Patient's question:
Severe asthenozoospermia, low concentration, 0 motile sperm; other routine indicators are normal, indicating no inflammation. Testosterone is low, chromosomes are normal, testicles are slightly small. What should the patient do? Should they directly proceed with a culture dish? Can traditional Chinese medicine improve this?Doctor's answer:
Low sperm motility, also known as asthenozoospermia, refers to a condition where the percentage of progressively motile sperm (grades a and b) in semen parameters is less than 50% or the percentage of grade a motile sperm is less than 25%. There are many causes of low sperm motility, but the most common ones include: prolonged abstinence (increased number of dead sperm, decreased sperm viability), excessively high or low environmental temperatures, varicocele, inflammation and infection of the reproductive tract, immunosuppression, endocrine disorders, certain medications that affect sperm production, radiation, and alcohol and tobacco poisoning, among others. It is recommended that patients undergo comprehensive etiological examinations and actively treat the underlying causes.
