Features: This book is written for Chinese managers and executives—those who are serious about their work, companies, and careers, and are passionate about their responsibilities. The conception and writing of this book were completed in China. Two-thirds of the examples in the book are about the business environment in China, while the remaining one-third are about the business environments in the United States, Japan, and other countries. The book reflects the business environments in China and internationally to a certain extent. The principles in the book are universally applicable, and the concepts are compatible with the social, cultural, and political customs of China. The book examines and explains the fundamental characteristics of business strategy, as well as the relationships between strategy, policy, resources, and tactics. It discusses why strategy is context-specific and time-sensitive, how multiple inputs, multiple choices, multiple paths, and multiple outcomes are used in strategy, and how to distinguish the nonlinear nature of strategy from linear thinking. The book covers 50 elements, which are the most commonly used "components" in corporate strategy, marketing strategy, manufacturing strategy, and international business strategy. It also explores the factors that influence the construction and implementation of business strategy and provides guidelines for managers and executives in developing business strategy and making decisions related to it. The book can be read cover-to-cover or used as a reference. Chapters 1, 2, and 3 should be read first, while the remaining 40 chapters can be selected at will. The publication of this book was supported by the Key Discipline Construction Project of Shaoxing University of Arts and Sciences.
