Publishing Time: Not available
Features: This book adopts the typical form of Chinese painting theory—dialogue-style—but it is not a cold accumulation of materials. Instead, it meticulously introduces the classic painting theories of Qi Baishi, condensing his entire cultural wisdom and aesthetic experience, as well as his insights into his life and artistic growth.
Qi Baishi (1864–1957) was a Chinese painter, calligrapher, and seal carver. Originally named Chunzhi, he later changed his name to Hong and adopted the courtesy name Bisheng. He also used the pseudonyms Jiping Laoren and others. Born in Xiangtan, Hunan, he drew inspiration from tradition and nature, rooted in literati painting, explored the fusion of refinement and popular art, and breathed new vitality into traditional flower-and-bird painting. He authored works such as Jieshan Yin Guan Shige (Poetry Collection from Jieshan Studio) and Baishi Shige (Baishi's Poetry Collection).
