Features: The relationship between the speed and scale of higher education development and the capital market is not only a major theoretical issue but also an urgent and significant practical problem that countries worldwide will face in the upcoming knowledge economy era. Based on a review of research on the scale and speed of higher education in developed countries since the 1950s, this book considers the historical backdrop of global economic integration, the knowledge economy, and the trends of universalization, informatization, marketization, and lifelong learning in world higher education, as well as the requirements of China's national economic development for talent and national quality. Starting from the relationship between the speed and scale of higher education development and the capital market, the book constructs models for higher education development goals, tasks, and indicator systems, as well as mathematical models for speed and scale. It also outlines four main pathways to achieve higher education development goals: 1. Increase government investment and strengthen the strength of public universities. 2. Fully mobilize the enthusiasm of social participation in running schools, develop private universities and independent colleges. 3. Attract private capital through multiple channels, reform traditional public universities, and transform some public universities into joint-stock universities. 4. Introduce foreign investment in education, moderately develop Sino-foreign cooperative institutions; actively encourage universities to participate in international higher education service trade competition and vigorously develop international student education.
