Opening the Door to Networked Existence (A Collection of Essays on the Philosophy of Technology)

Features: This book summarizes the author's research achievements on "networked existence" over 8 years of academic career in three aspects. First, it explores the social foundation of networked existence; second, it studies the regularity of networked existence; third, it reflects on networked existence. Traditional theories of philosophy of science and technology are all aimed at behaviors occurring in physical time and space patterns, where the body is a material in interaction. However, in the network world, time, space, the body, and their social attributes are all absent, which poses a new challenge to academia. This book attempts to take networked behavior as the research vantage point, with philosophy as the perspective and interdisciplinary analysis as the basic method, making the research cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary in nature. Logically speaking, networked behavior analysis is the vantage point of social sciences in the information age. There is every reason to believe that research in this direction can promote interdisciplinary studies and common development among disciplines such as philosophy of science and technology, sociology, economics, psychology, and more. Of course, the research in this book is still preliminary, and there is still a long way to go.
