Features: The entries in this dictionary primarily focus on commonly used words in social life, including over 32,000 German basic and compound words. The definitions are accurate, with detailed part-of-speech distinctions, and include related phrases and example sentences.
1. The vocabulary in this dictionary is arranged in alphabetical order according to German letters.
2. Each entry is marked with the part of speech, grammatical gender, transitive/intransitive/reflexive meanings of verbs (see the abbreviation table for details).
3. If a word belongs to two or more parts of speech or has multiple usages, it is explained separately, separated by Roman numerals I…; II…; III, etc.
4. Masculine and neuter nouns are marked only with the second declension singular and plural cases. Generally, nouns without plural forms are not marked. Feminine nouns are marked only with the plural declension. Compound words are marked only with their part of speech, without case changes.
5. Verbs are listed in the infinitive form. Strong-conjugation verbs are marked with an asterisk () in the upper right corner of the entry, and their conjugations can be found in Appendix II: Strong-Conjugation Verbs.
6. Strong-conjugation verbs with separable and inseparable prefixes follow the conjugation of the basic verb. For example, abfallen is conjugated the same as fallen.
7. The explanations of word meanings generally list the general and technical meanings first, followed by specific meanings, separated by Arabic numerals 1)…; 2)…; 3), etc.
8. Phrases and example sentences explaining word meanings are usually listed after the relevant meanings. When the word in the phrase or example sentence appears in its base form, it is marked with "~". If it appears in a conjugated form, the conjugated form is written, or the ending is added after "~".
9. No phonetic symbols are marked, only an accent mark (′) is added above the stressed syllable.
10. Homophones with different grammatical genders or nouns with different meanings and case forms in the second declension singular or plural are listed as a single entry, with explanations separated by Roman numerals I…; II, etc.
11. When compound words are listed consecutively, the "~" replaces the individual words or the part before the line in the word.
