How long can cerebral palsy be detected?

Patient's question:

My sister gave birth to a baby girl the past two days. She's a cute little girl, but when I visited, she didn't cry or make any noise. She felt different from ordinary children. Could you please tell me how long it takes to determine if a baby has cerebral palsy?

Doctor's answer:

For children with cerebral palsy, in most cases, there is a history of asphyxia and hypoxia at birth or in the uterus. After birth, there may be difficulties such as restlessness, crying, fatigue, or difficulty falling asleep. Early feeding difficulties, including problems with diet, chewing, drinking, and swallowing. Some children may drool and have breathing difficulties. Typically, these abnormal symptoms can be observed three months after birth, along with abnormal changes in muscle tone (such as increased or decreased muscle tone) and the persistence of primitive reflexes.
