Fu Hai, Liu Fangzi, and Zhao Er, three children, became apprentices in a paper-mending shop together, hoping to support each other in their apprenticeship filled with being beaten, scolded, and bullied. They imitated the peach garden oath and became sworn brothers. Unexpectedly, after the oath, they couldn't share the same fortune or bear the same hardship, but instead became mortal enemies. The eldest, Fu Hai, was a good person all his life, always thinking of helping his two brothers. However, the two brothers didn't spare him. One stole his beloved wife, leaving him unable to move on for the rest of his life. The other later became a traitor, and Fu Hai had to attend his funeral.
