Patient's question:
My daughter is 10 days old. The day before yesterday, she had a check-up at the hospital and her jaundice level was 14.7. The doctor asked me to keep her in the hospital alone for 4 days for treatment. I can't bear it~! I want to ask kind people, what should I do?Doctor's answer:
Hello: The test results you described do not have normal values. If it is pathological jaundice, it is recommended to conduct a clear examination of the cause and actively treat it. If it is not severe, it can be illuminated with blue light. Full-term newborns usually develop jaundice 2 to 3 days after birth, reach a peak on 4 to 5 days, and gradually disappear within 10 to 14 days. Total serum bilirubin should be less than 204 μmol/L (12?/dl). Premature infants have more severe physiological jaundice (less than 255 μmol/L, 15?/dl) and it subsides later (3?4 weeks). Generally, there are no other clinical symptoms.
