How is infant jaundice treated?

Patient's question:

The question of how to treat newborn jaundice. It has just been a month, and I'm not sure when it will occur (the room lighting is not very good). About ten days ago, I noticed that the face and neck were very yellow, and the eyes were too. Now it has subsided a little, but the whole body is still yellow. What should I do? Please ask how to best treat newborn jaundice.

Doctor's answer:

1 Blood transfusion: Blood transfusion is required when serum indirect bilirubin exceeds 20 mg/dL (342 μmol/L). Donors must first undergo a screening test for G6PD deficiency. The blood supply of G6PD must not be lacking to avoid exacerbation of the condition and jaundice after transfusion. Avoid blood donation from relatives. If jaundice is not severe, blood transfusion is not necessary.
2 Phototherapy: Exposing the child to light with a wavelength of 440 nm can reduce serum bilirubin and prevent the occurrence of kernicterus. If kernicterus has already occurred, it can be recovered more quickly. After exposure to this type of light, bilirubin is oxidized into colorless substances by light and excreted through urine and bile.
