Is frequent urination and urgency always related to the prostate?

Patient's question:

These past few days, I've experienced symptoms of blood in urine and urgency again, and someone has been teasing me, saying I might have a prostate problem. My mood instantly worsened. So, I want to ask the doctor: does frequent urination and urgency always indicate a prostate issue?

Doctor's answer:

Prostatitis patients generally have two aspects of uncomfortable feelings. On the one hand, they often experience painful and uncomfortable sensations, such as perineal or pelvic pubic pain; on the other hand, there are urinary abnormalities, such as frequent urination, incomplete urination, or secretions from the urethral opening. Based on the description, you may have symptoms of a urinary tract infection. It doesn't necessarily have to be prostatitis. It is recommended to go to the urology department for a check-up, including a urine test and a B-ultrasound to examine the condition of the ureter and bladder, to see if there are stones or organic inflammation, which can then clarify whether it is indeed prostatitis.
