Yet, he was the editor-in-chief of a national music publication and a renowned music critic. Whenever someone asked how he had become a music critic, he would recount his own personal experience. It was in the 1970s when he had just graduated from university and was working as a journalist at a newspaper. One day, while he was rushing to write an article, the editor-in-chief called him into the office. He said, "There's an important concert tonight, but our music critic has suddenly fallen ill and is in the hospital for surgery. Therefore, the newspaper has decided to send you to attend the concert and write a critic's article to be published tomorrow." He wasn't a music major and knew nothing about music—how could he write a critique? He wanted to refuse, but as a newcomer, he didn't have the courage; he wanted to accept, but he was worried he wouldn't be able to handle it. Seeing that he wasn't speaking, the editor asked if he was facing any difficulties. He said he was afraid he wouldn't be able to complete the task. To his surprise, the editor smiled and said, "There's no mountain too high to climb, and when the boat reaches the bridge, the path will naturally clear. You're quick on your feet, and I believe you can overcome the difficulties and write a decent critic's article." Then, the editor waved his hand, not allowing him to say anything more, and sent him out. That night, the man, who knew nothing about music, sat in the theater looking worried. On the other side of the theater, he clearly saw the music critic from another daily newspaper. That person was sitting with his legs crossed, eyes slightly closed, head swaying slightly with the rhythm of the music, looking confident. Tomorrow, his article would definitely appear in their newspaper. But how would he complete his task? As the concert was nearing its end, his mind was racing like a computer. Suddenly, he had an idea. As soon as the large curtain on stage was drawn, he rushed backstage and found a famous violinist. He introduced himself, explained his predicament, and frankly asked for her help. He said, "In reality, I'm asking you to help me write this critic's article. I think you'll help me, a newcomer." The violinist looked at him and smiled, took a sip of water, and then began to talk endlessly. As she explained, he took notes quickly. He thought to himself, "My fellow journalist, no matter how talented he is in writing, how deep his experience, how his understanding of music, or how fresh his perspectives, he couldn't write a better article than mine. Because his musical expertise could never surpass that of the musician in front of me. Originally, the gap between us was huge, but now I'm standing on the shoulders of this famous musician, borrowing her strength, using the wisdom of two people, and clearly, one of them has far more musical knowledge than he does." The next day, both articles were published in the newspapers. Industry insiders exclaimed, discovering a new star in music criticism. After this success, the newspaper leadership appointed him as a full-time music
