Features: Decades ago, when you stepped into a pediatric clinic, you often saw a family photo hanging on the wall behind the doctor's chair. Counting the children in the photo, there were usually more than five! The photo was meant to signify the doctor's extensive experience in childcare and that they would be a good pediatrician. Although I couldn't hang a family photo with five children, over the years, in the journey of raising one son and one daughter, the many efforts I put into their birth, upbringing, and education did not feel like a waste of precious youth and time. Instead, it was like undergoing a solid practical training. Throughout their growth and the challenges they faced at each stage, I gained invaluable experiences that neither books nor teachers could teach. This allowed me to approach children's illnesses or behavioral issues not only from a medical perspective but also from that of a parent, observing, analyzing, and thinking about them.
In modern society, due to the pressures of life, workloads, and the pursuit of quality of life, the number of children per family has decreased, and it's rare to see a family with more than five children. Every child is precious, and parents are willing to give their all to provide the best for them, especially newborns, who are completely helpless and entirely dependent on their parents. Often, parents worry endlessly about certain behaviors or symptoms in their children, bringing them to clinics or emergency rooms for check-ups, only to hear the doctor dismissively say, "The child is fine! Don’t overreact."
In the clinic, when I repeatedly explain to parents that the issues they are concerned about in their children are merely physiological phenomena that will resolve on their own as the child grows and require no medication, I can't help but wish there was a book or a video that could convey these principles in greater detail and completeness, helping first-time parents prepare better and gain more confidence from others' experiences.
This book is a compilation of my knowledge and experience from years of practicing medicine and caring for children. I hope it provides practical and effective help to parents with infants and young children, as well as guidance for young doctors, nurses, medical students, nursing students, and students in related fields in understanding infant and child issues.
Finally, I dedicate this book to my parents, my children's father, and all parents.
