Features: The 13th Academic Conference of the Chinese Society of Foreign Economic Thought was held from November 11 to 13, 2005, in Shenzhen. The conference was organized by the Party School of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and co-organized by the School of Economics at Shenzhen University. Nearly 200 experts and scholars from universities, research institutions, and the press and publishing industry attended, presenting over 130 papers and more than 10 academic works, creating a grand scene. Guided by Marxism and fully promoting the spirit of "freedom of thought and debate," the participants engaged in lively discussions on fundamental theories and methods of Western economics, the relationship between Marxist economics and Western economics, and the issues of independent innovation and economic development. The conference fully demonstrated the research achievements of Chinese scholars in the current progress of Western economics and the innovation of Marxist economics. Selected representative papers from the discussions were edited and revised, compiled into a book, and published publicly to serve the readers.
