Features: It is important to avoid pregnancy in May and June because July has hot and humid weather, which already weakens appetite. Adding pregnancy symptoms can lead to insufficient nutrition intake, potentially affecting fetal development. Additionally, avoid pregnancy in October, as giving birth in July during the peak summer. Postpartum women naturally sweat a lot, and giving birth in extreme summer heat can easily lead to heatstroke due to the hot, humid, and damp climate. Mild symptoms include dizziness, chest tightness, and elevated body temperature, while severe cases may involve high fever, coma, or even death. This is also a season with a high incidence of skin infections and diarrhea, so it is best to avoid giving birth in the peak summer.
China has varying climatic conditions across regions, so it is essential to consider local circumstances rather than rigidly follow general advice. In general, pregnancy should be planned based on local epidemic conditions and nutritional supply. Winter is not advisable for conception because fresh vegetables and fruits are scarce, leading to insufficient intake of trace elements and vitamins, which can affect fetal growth and development. Moreover, the cold winter climate increases the risk of viral infections when going outdoors. As everyone knows, the first eight weeks of pregnancy are the embryonic period. If a pregnant woman contracts a viral infection during this time, it can directly affect the fetus, potentially causing intellectual disabilities or birth defects.
Additionally, outdoor activities are relatively limited in winter, with windows and doors often closed, resulting in poor indoor air quality. If a stove is used for heating indoors, the concentration of carbon dioxide can increase, raising the risk of birth defects and increasing the likelihood of delivering a child with abnormalities. Therefore, newly married couples should avoid conception during the depths of winter.
January falls during the "Triple Nine" or "Four Nine" period, marking the coldest time of the year, making it unsuitable for childbirth. Postpartum women are prone to catching colds or the flu if they lack adequate protection while breastfeeding, bathing, or changing the baby. Newborns also have poor adaptability to cold, and upper respiratory infections or pneumonia may follow. Thus, pregnancy in April is also not recommended.
However, having the intention to conceive does not always guarantee success. Sometimes, "one plants flowers with care but they fail to bloom, while willows planted without intention take root." Pregnancy may not occur as planned, so if it happens at another time, it is best to let nature take its course. Some people think that if pregnancy does not occur on schedule, they should have a miscarriage and try to conceive again later. This idea is not entirely correct. Miscarriage itself is harmful to the body and can damage the endometrium, so whether pregnancy can be restored after miscarriage is uncertain. Whether it can be achieved on schedule is even more uncertain. Therefore, it is advisable for those who are already pregnant not to regret not conceiving during the "optimal" season. After all, human evolution has undergone millions of years of adaptation, allowing pregnancy and childbirth to occur in all four seasons. Many material conditions, especially fresh vegetables, are now available year-round in many places, so fetal nutrition is not a concern.
