Article 2: All power in the People's Republic of China belongs to the people. The organs through which the people exercise state power are the National People's Congress and the local people's congresses at various levels. The people manage state affairs, economic and cultural undertakings, and social affairs in accordance with the law through various channels and forms.
Article 6: The socialist economic system of the People's Republic of China is based on the socialist public ownership of means of production, namely, state ownership and collective ownership by working people. Socialist public ownership eliminates the system of exploitation of man by man and implements the principle of "from each according to his ability, to each according to his contribution." In the primary stage of socialism, the state adheres to the basic economic system of giving priority to public ownership while developing multiple forms of ownership, and adheres to the distribution system of giving priority to distribution according to contribution while allowing multiple forms of distribution to coexist.
Article 14: The state improves the initiative and technical skills of laborers, promotes advanced science and technology, perfects the economic management system and enterprise management system, implements various forms of socialist responsibility system, improves labor organization, and continuously enhances labor productivity and economic efficiency to develop social productivity. The state strictly practices thrift and opposes waste. The state reasonably arranges accumulation and consumption, taking into account the interests of the state, collectives, and individuals, and gradually improves the material and cultural lives of the people on the basis of developing production. The state establishes and improves a social security system adapted to the level of economic development.
