Features: The Chinese government has identified "actively participating in international regional economic cooperation mechanisms, strengthening dialogue and consultation, and developing bilateral and multilateral economic and trade cooperation with countries; actively participating in the formulation of multilateral trade and investment plans, promoting the establishment of a new international economic order; further strengthening economic and technological cooperation with developing countries" as one of the key components of the grand blueprint for China's economic and social development and the common action program for all ethnic groups in the next five years, as outlined in the "11th Five-Year Plan" outline. This book explores and studies how China's participation in subregional economic cooperation can establish an orderly cooperative environment and effective legal safeguards, with the aim of gradually transforming the cooperation development in the Greater Mekong Subregion from disorder to order, and from no rules to a more rule-based system. The legal issues discussed in this book represent only the author's awareness and focus of thought, and do not cover all legal issues in GMS cooperation. It is inevitable to overlook some aspects. The author wishes to present the preliminary research findings to the departments that guide and manage GMS cooperation, in the hope of providing reference value; and to lay a foundation for in-depth research on the legal issues of GMS cooperation for experts and scholars who are passionate about and interested in these issues.
