Features: Learning to draw, whether pursuing professional education or self-study, generally follows two approaches: observation and copying. Since academies are well-equipped with standardized teaching curricula and teacher guidance, they place greater emphasis on observation-based teaching. Starting from basic courses, the teaching progresses systematically, gradually deepening from grasping fundamental skills to mastering them. Classroom observation-based teaching is predominantly used, but copying courses are also essential during the learning process, as without basic techniques, observation cannot be practiced. Observation fundamentally differs from photography; it is the product of an interaction between observation, cognitive processing, and the application of corresponding techniques, involving the coordinated effort of eye, brain, and hand. Copying, on the other hand, is the best method for learning to express objective subjects. In the past two years, the author has visited dozens of new and old art academies and art departments in universities across 8 provinces and cities, and has found that the main issues are weak teaching resources and a lack of high-quality art reference materials.
