Features: The Three Gorges Project is a world-renowned large-scale water conservancy project, a key infrastructure for the control and development of the Yangtze River, with significant comprehensive benefits such as flood control, power generation, and navigation. However, at the same time, factors such as the relocation of reservoir residents, the impact on construction areas, and the partial alteration of the Yangtze River's hydrological conditions after the project's completion, which lead to changes in the ecological environment, may also cause varying degrees of impact on the ecology, environment, and even the socio-economy of the reservoir area, the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and the estuary region. In accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Impact Assessment Report of the Three Gorges Project, under the organization and coordination of the State Council's Three Gorges Office, the Three Gorges Project Ecological and Environmental Monitoring System, currently the only cross-regional and cross-departmental system in the country, was established starting in 1994. The purpose of this system is to establish a comprehensive and representative monitoring system around the construction and future operation of the Three Gorges Project.
