Features: This book, "Digital Signal Processing: A Computer-Based Approach" by Professor Sanjit K. Mitra of the University of California, Santa Barbara, has received widespread acclaim both domestically and internationally since its publication. In 2001, Tsinghua University Press introduced and published the second edition of this book. A number of universities in China have used it as a textbook for the "Digital Signal Processing" course, playing a positive role in promoting the development of this course, especially in bilingual teaching. In early 2006, Professor Mitra released the third edition of this book. The new edition inherits and develops the features of the previous two editions, which thoroughly explain basic concepts, theories, and methods, with a focus on engineering and applications, and makes new advancements. Some new content has been added, outdated content has been removed, some chapters have been adjusted and rearranged, and some errors have been corrected. The new edition splits the transform domain analysis of discrete-time signals and systems into three chapters: Discrete-Time Fourier Transform (DTFT), Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), and z-Transform. In the DFT chapter, the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Haar Transform, which are widely used in current signal compression applications, are introduced. As one of the most important contents of digital signal processing, the design of Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) and Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filters is treated as separate chapters in the new edition. The multi-rate processing problem, which is currently being developed and applied, is divided into two chapters: the basic concepts of multi-rate processing, filter banks, and discrete wavelet transform. The processing of discrete-time random signals is placed in the appendix. The new edition further emphasizes the application of MATLAB. To facilitate students' learning and mastery, the author has designed a three-part structure: first, the beginning of each chapter introduces basic theory and algorithms; then, examples are solved manually; and finally, these examples are solved using MATLAB. All MATLAB code for the examples is listed in the book and also included on the accompanying CD-ROM. This approach is very beneficial for students' review and self-study. With up to 352 examples (including 163 MATLAB programs) and 783 exercises (including 158 MATLAB practices), this book stands out as a highly distinctive feature.
