Features: The yearning of youth, along with the joy and sorrow derived from it, has long turned into experience and permanently lies in my memory. In middle age, one may have a mind as open as the clouds and waters, but life is no longer as brilliant as a flower—it is at least true for me. The best way for a person to change a monotonous and dull life is to travel. The customs and unfamiliar scenery of foreign lands will bring you sensory excitement and completely different spiritual experiences. Travel can be divided into two types: one is on the land, and the other is in history. This includes both life experiences and book knowledge. One reason is that I have saved a little money, which allows me to travel to all parts of the world, and the other is that I have developed a love for history. My life has been interwoven between these two forms of travel. To express this reflection, prose is more direct than fiction or poetry. This is why, in recent years, in addition to writing The Rise and Fall of Zhang Juzheng, I have also written so many essays. It can be said that prose has helped me complete my reflection on life. The so-called "rebirth" means that my motivation for writing has shifted from hatred to love, and from indignation to tolerance. This does not mean that I will ignore the ugly things in society from now on, but rather that I am willing to judge these ugly things in a positive and healthy way.
