Features: The postscript, as quoted in this report, states that in the 1950s, among the few formal (scientific), large-scale archaeological excavations in Zhejiang, most took place in Huzhou. The excavations at Qiu Cheng Site and Qianshanyang Site not only separated the strata containing impressed pottery deposits but also laid the foundation for establishing the regional archaeological cultural sequence with the "three-layer" deposits. Although the Kunshan Site had not been subjected to large-scale systematic archaeological excavation for a long time, its importance was undeniable. Archaeological surveys and attention to the site had never ceased, and we pay tribute to the predecessors who devoted hard work to it. The 2004 Kunshan archaeological excavation was a good opportunity to understand the basic features of the site and also marked our first step. Although the distribution area of the site (points), the continuity of cultural deposits, and the spatiotemporal relationships between different sites remained unclear, this excavation provided a glimpse into the Kunshan Site from one aspect and one locality, and also provided a scientific archaeological basis for further site protection. This work was approved by the National Bureau of Cultural Relics and carried out as rescue excavation within a basic construction project. Prior to this, relevant leaders from Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics, Zhejiang Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, Huzhou Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics, and Huzhou Museum had invested a great deal of effort. The excavation of the site also received strong support from the Huzhou Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, the construction unit. The excavation site, belonging to Kunshan Village, was supported by the Kunshan Village Committee of Balidian Town. Special thanks are extended to them. Mr. Cao Jinyan, Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, conducted extensive liaison work before the excavation and repeatedly inspected the quality of the archaeological excavation. He also provided valuable insights on the bronze fragments collected by the Huzhou Museum over the years and those unearthed in this excavation. Despite his busy schedule, Mr. Cao arranged for the publication of this report. Mr. Chai Peiliang, Deputy Director of the Huzhou Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics, and Mr. Wu Malin, Director of the Cultural Relics Department, coordinated a great deal of work for this excavation. Mr. Huang Jianxiang, Director of the Huzhou Museum, and Deputy Directors Min Quan and Pan Linrong also devoted hard work to the preparation of this excavation. Their support extended to indoor sorting work and site arrangements as well. Before this excavation, Mr. Rui Guoyao of our institute and Mr. Ma Zhushan, along with staff from the Huzhou Museum, conducted preliminary trial excavations, including TGl, which laid a solid foundation for the overall excavation. Mr. Rui Guoyao also provided data from the 1995 trial excavation of the Pishan Site.
