Features: Wenzhou, formerly known as Dong'ou, has a long history. Since the Song Dynasty, it has been renowned for its succession of outstanding figures and cultural prosperity, with local literature being the most abundant in southeastern Zhejiang. The Wenzhou Library houses a large collection of manuscripts, handwritten copies, and printed books, while the Wenzhou Museum and other institutions have also accumulated many valuable documents. In the process of building a modern new Wenzhou, rescuing and developing historical and cultural heritage, and cherishing the rich legacy left by predecessors, is a shared aspiration of the city's cultural and academic community. In modern times, Wenzhou has conducted four large-scale document compilations. During the Tongzhi and Guangxu periods of the Qing Dynasty, Rui'an Sun Yiyan compiled and published the "Yongjia Congshu" in fifteen volumes and 252 chapters. In the fourth year of the Republic of China, Rugao Mao Guangsheng edited and published the "Yongjia Shige Shitang Congke" in fourteen volumes and 22 chapters. In the 1920s and 1930s, Yongjia Huang Qun printed and published the "Jingxianglou Congshu" in thirty-eight volumes and 289 chapters. Before the outbreak of the War of Resistance, the Yongjia District Committee for Collecting the Writings of Local Predecessors copied and compiled 402 types of local documents totaling 1,259 chapters, benefiting the academic community and achieving remarkable accomplishments.
