Features: Writing is, after all, a process of accumulation—it's not something that can be achieved overnight. The key lies in how to accumulate: the objects of accumulation, the methods of accumulation, and how to appropriately apply the accumulated knowledge you have completed. Since not everyone wants to become a writer (and those who do may not necessarily succeed), let's realistically address the issue of how to achieve high scores in exams with your essays. Why would a teacher give a high or low score to an article? That's because there are scoring standards, and the higher the essay content aligns with these standards, the higher the score will be. So, what are the main points the scoring standards focus on?
Fluency of Language: It's hard to imagine an essay praised for being disjointed and illogical. The primary task of an article is to communicate through words, making it clear to the reader what scene, event, or feelings you want to convey.
Clear Structure: When you first start learning to write essays, you should still remember your teacher's earnest advice: "Don't just write a chronological account." An essay that starts strong but ends weakly is unacceptable, as is placing the groundwork before the main point. The event is always the center of the essay—don't get lost in ornate language or lengthy descriptions. Remember, all embellishments are merely (supportive), and they should never take precedence.
Sincerity and Authenticity: This is the most crucial aspect of a good essay, if not the most important for any piece of writing. A truly moving essay is what makes it great. If a mediocre score from a formulaic essay like the "New Eight-Gu" style satisfies you, then you'll never know the joy of writing down your own thoughts and feelings, resonating with others, or even evoking a sense of shock or deep emotion.
