Chinese Sociology - (Volume 5)

Author: Editor: Institute of Sociology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2006-09-01
Features: Since Mr. Taiyan first proposed the term "sociology" in 1902, Chinese sociology has gone through twists and turns, ups and downs, and has now stood for a full century. It is needless to say the achievements of predecessors in fostering thought and building the discipline; even in the more than two decades since the reconstruction of Chinese sociology, the sweat and dedication poured into shaping its unique character, profound tradition, and solid academic style are enough to fill a book. We understand that the cultivation and harvest of the present generation are the best memorials to the past, and the seeds sown also the harvest of the next season. Founded today, The Chinese Sociology serves three purposes: to commemorate the past, to advance accumulation, and to explore directions. May scholars unite in purpose and effort, jointly embarking on a new spring of sociology. Since the journal is named The Chinese Sociology, its authors naturally include both domestic scholars and overseas Chinese scholars. The papers selected for the journal generally fall into three categories: those already published in Chinese academic journals or translated from other languages; those already published in foreign academic journals; and unpublished papers. The journal particularly encourages research conducted on Chinese society. The Chinese Sociology is sponsored by the Institute of Sociology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The first two volumes were reviewed and approved by the Academic Committee of the Institute of Sociology and published within the year. From then on, the journal will be published annually and will adopt a double-blind peer-review system to select papers. This is a pioneering effort, and we sincerely hope for the strong support of our academic peers. Any shortcomings in this endeavor are welcome corrections.
