Features: The Watch Law German psychologist discovered an interesting phenomenon. If you are given a watch, you will firmly believe the time indicated by it, but when you are given two watches, you will be confused. Because the times provided by the two watches may be inconsistent. Then which watch will you believe? This contradictory psychology is called the "Two Watches Law," also known as the "Contradictory Choice Law." In real life, we often encounter similar situations. For example, if two elective courses are of interest to you, but their class times overlap, and you don’t have enough energy to excel in both, it will be difficult for you to make a choice. When faced with two equally excellent and devoted boys, you will also struggle for a long time, unsure of how to decide. When choosing a career, if two companies are equally good in terms of location and compensation, where will you go? At every crossroads in life, we face the dilemma of "neither fish nor fowl." When faced with contradictory choices, we recommend using "fuzzy psychology."
The so-called "fuzzy psychology" refers to making a choice that aligns with one’s subconscious psychology when faced with a difficult decision. Psychological research shows that "fuzzy psychology" is actually a psychological accumulation accumulated during a person’s growth process. Perhaps you cannot give a clear reason, but through the subconscious, you can generally make a decision that aligns with your individual psychological needs. The subconscious here is what we often call impression. "Fuzzy psychology" can provide us with safe psychological protection when facing contradictory choices, and it is therefore worth promoting.
With only one watch, you can accurately know the time. Having two or more watches does not tell a person a more accurate time but instead makes the person lose confidence in the accuracy of the time. This is the famous "Watch Law." It offers inspiration for modern business management: one should not adopt two different management methods simultaneously, nor set two different goals, otherwise, the company will be lost. Similarly, a person should not be commanded by two or more people, otherwise, they will be lost. By analogy, a person should not hold two different values simultaneously, otherwise, their behavior will become chaotic.
Everyone has their own values. When their values conflict with their career and life, if we truly identify with our values, we should not let other values influence us. To make the correct choice of values, it is best to know the degree of importance a certain value holds for you so that you can make the right choice. Don’t complain about the current environment or wait for opportunities to come. Everyone should design their career and life based on their strengths, and determine their direction of effort based on their environment, conditions, talents, qualities, and interests.
