Features: The following points specifically need clarification in this book:
1. "A Brief Introduction to Grotius's The Free Sea" and "Plato's Atlantis Chronicle" are not articles with a single theme, but rather supplements to two translated works in the "Collection of Maritime Maps and Histories" (one is Grotius's The Free Sea, and the other is Bacon's New Atlantis), aiming to provide readers with more complete information. The first is too burdensome to serve as an introduction and is merely a simple overview of historical facts—I dare not add any personal interpretations. The second was originally intended to excerpt the sections from Plato's Critias related to the Atlantis legend as an appendix to match Bacon's "New Atlantis" (commonly referred to as Bacon's New Atlantis). However, I finally added some basic explanatory notes, and the author strives to keep these notes strictly within the realm of historical narration, avoiding any advancement into the realm of "philosophy" to minimize interference with readers' independent reading.
2. The appended "Reminiscences of War Years" is even more disorganized and belongs to a lyrical, notebook-style work similar to a diary. It is a fragment of hundreds of (s, or short essays) I wrote during a very difficult period, some of which were fortunate enough to be preserved. They are extremely fragmented and insufficient to convey a clear message. Rather than offering value to readers, they are more appropriately seen as a private commemoration of past years. Here, I sincerely apologize to the readers.
3. Except for the supplementary explanations of Grotius's and Bacon's works, the rest of the essays in this collection are timely writings, lacking the meticulous groundwork and arguments typical of specialized research papers. For me, the writing and thinking process has been an extremely enjoyable journey, and I hope that readers who happen to read this book can share this joy rather than my hasty reflections. The book provides readers with accessible chapters on politics, economics, and law that deserve to be articulated.
