Features: The clear samples of the international student exhibition works from the "Hyper Design" 2006 Shanghai Biennial were placed before me. Illustrated with both text and images, it deeply moved me to immerse myself in the works of the participating young students. Upon examining their characteristics, three stand out distinctly: first, blurred boundaries; second, the transcendence of time and space; and third, the simultaneous integration of emotion and reason. HYPER transcends beyond the material to embody a spiritual and meaningful layer, so in this context, "Hyper" signifies a transcendence that follows critique, reflection, and negation. Art and design repeatedly gain renewal and momentum through the process of identifying and reweaving reality. The discussion on "Hyper Design" at this year's Shanghai Biennial may well herald a more brilliant and essential future for art and design.
