Mechanical Principles Tutorial - (Second Edition)

Author: Shen Yongsheng
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2005-12-01
Features: The first edition of this book was awarded as a key national textbook for general higher education under the "Nineteen-Ninety-Five" national plan; it was recognized as a curriculum textbook for the 21st century; in 2001, it received the second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award; in 2002, it won the first prize of the National Excellent Textbook Award for General Higher Education. This book is revised based on the first edition, incorporating the spirit of the newly formulated "Basic Requirements for Teaching of the Mechanical Principles Course" and "Suggestions for Teaching Reform of the Mechanical Principles Course" by the Teaching Guidance Sub-Committee of Mechanical Basic Courses for Higher Education under the Ministry of Education in 2004, as well as the practical experience of recent years' teaching reform.
In this revision, while maintaining the basic system and features of the first edition, the traditional content has been appropriately streamlined, and application examples closely linked to engineering practice have been added.
The book is divided into three parts:
Part One: Kinematic Design of Mechanisms
This part primarily introduces the composition principles of mechanisms, types, characteristics, functions, and kinematic design methods of various mechanisms, including:
Composition and Structure of Mechanisms, Linkage Mechanisms, Cam Mechanisms, Gear Mechanisms, Gear Trains, Periodic Motion Mechanisms, Other Common Mechanisms, Composite Mechanisms, Open-Chain Mechanisms;
Part Two: Dynamic Design of Machinery
This part primarily discusses the dynamic problems that arise during the operation of machinery and how to improve the dynamic performance of machinery through rational design and experiments, including:
Dynamics of Mechanical Systems, Balancing of Machinery, Efficiency of Machinery;
Part Three: Systematic Design of Mechanical Systems
This part primarily introduces the content, process, design philosophy, and methods of systematic design for mechanical systems, including:
Overall Systematic Design of Mechanical Systems, Systematic Design of Mechanical Execution Systems, Systematic Design of Mechanical Transmission Systems, and Selection of Prime Movers.
This book can be used as a teaching material for mechanical engineering majors in higher education institutions and is also suitable for reference by postgraduate students and engineering technicians in the field of mechanical engineering.
