2. Exercise Answers: Provides answers to previewing, pronunciation, grammar, sentence patterns, text exercises, as well as sentence-making and dictation.
3. Reference Translations.
The purpose of providing these materials is to facilitate teachers in preparing lessons, rather than dictating a fixed teaching model. The fundamental task of the Preliminary Level Intensive Reading Course of "College English," and indeed the fundamental task of preliminary English teaching, is to enable students to review and consolidate the English they learned in middle school at a new level, thereby improving their practical mastery and application of the material. In actual classroom teaching, analyzing the content of the text and explaining language points are essential teaching steps to help students understand the text. Given that most of the language items in the Preliminary Level Intensive Reading Course of "College English" are things students have already learned in middle school, helping them grasp the meaning of the text may not be very difficult or time-consuming. However, helping students understand the content is only the initial step in learning English, and a simple one. What is more important, more challenging, and also the fundamental step is how to enable students to actually master the English language forms themselves that they have already understood the meaning of. Therefore, teachers must dedicate great effort to helping students familiarize themselves with the language forms of the text and exercises, and to be able to apply them in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Only in this way can the teaching task of the Preliminary Level of College English be completed. As for the materials provided in this book, they are for reference only. The teaching plan section can be adjusted as necessary based on actual teaching conditions; many exercise answers are not the only correct ones, and the reference translations cannot be considered true translations.
