Features: In recent years, the development of the new economy has attracted attention from governments, academia, the media, and the general public. People from all walks of life have expressed their views on new economy issues from various perspectives. This book introduces the views on the new economy from China (including some from abroad) and the debates between these views. The content is broadly divided into two parts: a review section and a thematic section. The review section explores the new economy as a whole, but each article takes a different perspective. The thematic section includes various topics, such as discussions on the knowledge economy or the internet economy, analyses of information technology, assessments of the impact of the new economy on specific countries or regions, and analyses of the relationship between the new economy and traditional industries. China's focus on the new economy has, to some extent, been fueled by the rise of the Nasdaq index. Additionally, the expansion of foreign exchanges, the strengthening of economic power, and the narrowing of the gap with foreign countries since the reform and opening-up have created conditions for China to adopt a "close pursuit" strategy in the economy. Currently, the Nasdaq index has plummeted, and the U.S. economy is heading toward a recession. However, most of the authors of the articles in this book have not dismissed the new economy outright due to this; instead, they have realistically analyzed the potential role of the new economy in promoting China's economic development.
