Features: Shandong University is one of the oldest higher education institutions in China's history. Its predecessor was the Imperial Shandong University College, established in 1901 at Luoyuan Academy in Jinan. Over the following two decades, it underwent several changes and mergers. In 1926, it was formed from six specialized schools and became the Provincial Shandong University. In 1928, it was renamed the National Shandong University. In 1930, it took over the assets of the former private Tsingdao University and was established as the National Tsingdao University in Tsingdao. It was later reverted to the National Shandong University in 1932. In 1951, Shandong University merged with the former East China University from the liberated areas and retained the name Shandong University. In 1958, Shandong University moved from Tsingdao to Jinan, where it remains to this day.
