Features: From the Gulf War, Operation Desert Fox, the Kosovo War, and the U.S. counter-terrorism war in Afghanistan, to various peacekeeping and anti-terrorism operations around the world, you hardly see the familiar shadow of "bloody battles and close combat" of the past. Today's wars and the weapons used in them are presented to people in a completely new way. And the fundamental driving force behind all of this is the rapid development of science and technology. As a developing country with the largest population in the world, China is relatively backward in terms of economy and science and technology, and its surrounding security environment is complex. The national security awareness, defense awareness, and awareness of building a science and technology powerhouse among the broad masses of the people, especially among the youth, have become crucial. In light of this, we have specifically organized a group of experts with military expertise to compile this series titled "New Century, New Weapons, New Wars," consisting of 9 books, with each book covering a specific type of weapon and its related (or potential) warfare. The series aims to use popular and lively language, an in-depth yet accessible and illustrated approach, and a forward-looking perspective to create a systematic and comprehensive reflection of new weapons and new-concept warfare. It is intended to be an entertaining military reading that combines popular science, readability, interest, reference value, foresight, and a certain academic nature, with correct viewpoints and engaging content. The goal is to broaden the perspective on military science and technology, enrich knowledge of future weapons, and enhance modern defense awareness.
New-concept weapons are a type of weapon that has emerged in recent years, utilizing advanced technology, also known as new-mechanism weapons. Their characteristics include: new concepts, new principles, new technologies, new destructive mechanisms, new killing effects, new command strategies, and new operational uses. In terms of operational methods and effectiveness, they differ significantly from traditional weapons and represent the current trend in weapon development. They will have a revolutionary impact on future wars. In future conflicts, new-concept weapons, represented by laser weapons and high-power microwave weapons, will bring about changes in operational methods, providing new means for air defense and anti-missile fields, and will have a profound impact on modern warfare.
