What are the causes of cerebral palsy in children?

Patient's question:

I noticed that the little boy next door is now over 3 years old, but he still walks unsteadily, cannot speak, and has relatively slow reactions. People say he has cerebral palsy. The child is quite cute, and it makes me feel sorry. How does infantile cerebral palsy occur, and why does this happen?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, there are many causes of childhood cerebral palsy in daily life.
(1) Antenatal factors: such as congenital malformations, genetic defects, intrauterine infections, threatened miscarriage, maternal exposure to toxic substances, radiation damage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension.
(2) Intrapartum factors: such as difficult labor, umbilical cord blood supply interruption due to the umbilical cord hanging down or (wrapping around the neck) during delivery, neonatal asphyxia, macrosomia and low birth weight, preterm and immature infants, and birth injuries.
(3) Postnatal factors: such as neonatal jaundice, intracranial hematoma in newborns, sepsis leading to shock, aspiration pneumonia, and brain hypoxia caused by atelectasis.
