Features: This set of A Concise History of China is a reading material designed to popularize Chinese history knowledge among teenagers. I think, even if it's not for teenagers, history and literature enthusiasts might as well read this series. Compared to the grand and extensive Comprehensive History of China, which runs into millions of words, each volume in this series only contains about 100,000 words, with a total of eight volumes, adding up to only about 800,000 words, hence the name Concise History. More importantly, this book is not a historical anecdote, nor is it the sensationalized history that is (: spreading like wildfire) and will inevitably lead to dire consequences—rather, it is a serious and rigorous comprehensive history work, simply aiming to be as concise and accessible as possible. Each volume is written by experts and scholars specializing in the specific historical period, making this series a popular reading material written by experts. I cannot guarantee that every volume's text is as smooth as flowing clouds and as brilliant as a flowing pen. But I can guarantee that each author firmly grasps the historical context, highly condenses the main content of the period-specific history, and presents it clearly and comprehensively, leaving nothing to the imagination, with accurate historical facts. The reader is reading reliable history. The last chapter of each volume provides an overview of the world during the same historical period. If the reader completes the entire series, they will clearly see how our great China, once a powerful nation on the world stage, gradually declined until the final collapse of the Celestial Empire—the fall of the Qing Dynasty.
