Patient's question:
What is a prostatic cyst? What is the best treatment for prostatic cysts. What should I do about this? I'm so worriedDoctor's answer:
Prostatic cysts are composed of normal glandular acini, or they may be multilocular. The acini are lined with columnar epithelium, some of which are low cuboidal epithelium. The cysts are filled with serous or serosanguineous fluid. Prostatic cysts can be infected by second-order neurons and may develop stones. When larger cysts grow and press against the urethra or bladder neck, they can obstruct urine flow. Common symptoms include urinary urgency, frequency, difficulty urinating, thin urine stream, urinary retention, and constipation when pressing against the rectum. Rectal examination can detect cysts in the prostate area when they are large, urethral contrast imaging can reveal an arcuate impression in the posterior urethra, and MRI and CT can clearly determine their location.
