What is the reason for thick white tongue and loose stools?

Patient's question:

Baby is 5 months old. 10 days ago, I noticed thick white tongue and slightly loose stools. What could be the reason? I've visited three hospitals, but nothing has helped. I'm so worried!

Doctor's answer:

White fur White fur is the most common in clinical practice, and other colored fur can be considered as transformations based on white fur. White fur is generally associated with the lungs, primarily indicating exterior syndromes and cold syndromes, but in clinical practice, there are also interior syndromes and heat syndromes that present with white fur. For example, thin and moist white fur indicates wind-cold; thin and dry white fur indicates wind-heat; and interior syndromes of cold-dampness may present with thick and greasy white fur. Thick fur often suggests that the pathogenic factor is relatively severe and has already spread to the interior; it may also indicate accumulation of stagnation in the stomach and intestines, or phlegm-dampness. The thicker the fur, the more severe the pathogenic factor and the more serious the condition. However, the formation of fur reflects the presence or absence of stomach Qi. Although the fur may be thick, it indicates that stomach Qi still exists. Conversely, a lack of fur often suggests insufficient vital Qi in the body, while complete absence of fur indicates severe deficiency of stomach Qi and a lack of vitality.
