When the world was still young

Author: Jakob Ludwig Karl Gurk Spiegel

Publish Date: 2000-05-01
Features: This book has received extremely high praise in Europe and is hailed as a literary treasure combining "picture and text"! The entire book consists of a series of independent short stories, with masterful illustrations that are full of charm. The stories in this book are not as simple as they seem. Dedicated readers will discover that these short stories contain some very important propositions from disciplines such as religion, philosophy, sociology, semantics, and literature. However, the author uses a very simple and rustic approach to weave them into stories. Reading Advice: Children often understand this book better than adults, and many adults with insufficient patience complain that the stories are inexplicable. Rest assured that letting children read it is fine—they will be able to understand it. If you read it from beginning to end, you might not find a single story. Start anywhere, and you will always find a real story each time. And it will be different every time! When the world was still young, we called it paradise. Then what happened? As time passed, it completely changed, and later, what exactly occurred? In fact, we all know. But in the enchanting fairy tales and surprises of Jakob Ludwig Karl Gurk Spiegel, you can never predict the outcome. A city that wanders everywhere? The roar of a late-arriving lion? Baffling magic? Happiness and help must be sought? You will be amazed and laugh, because the book is filled with seemingly illogical yet purposeful whims. The door to the strange century is now open, and children, young people, and adults can enter and wander freely. Moreover, the unique and creative illustrations by the renowned German illustrator Ruth Guta Sch?nberger are also astonishing, making it impossible not to look at them again and again.
