No matter how big a leader (official) is, laying a solid foundation is key.
Zeng Guofan was a meritorious minister of the Qing Dynasty, renowned for his letters and precepts, and was called the last "saint" of the feudal society.
Zhuge Liang was knowledgeable and wise, known as the "Sleeping Dragon," and his "Liang Fu Yin" was unmatched in all of China. His "Two Memos to the Emperor" were both excellent in literature and sentiment.
Lincoln originally had a stutter, but his diligence and studiousness made him eventually become the President of the United States. His Gettysburg Address changed the course of the Civil War.
A leader's qualities are the internal factors that determine the level of leadership art.
"Four transformations" of cadres include intellectualization.
Do not wait, rely on, or demand; instead of yearning for fish at the edge of the well, better go back and fish.
This "net" is not a network of connections, but rather laying a foundation, acquiring knowledge, and improving abilities.
Li Si was one of the representatives of the Legalist school, and the policies of Qin Shi Huang were a manifestation of Li Si and Han Feizi's thoughts. Qin Shi Huang standardized the width of chariots and unified the script, and the "script" was actually Li Si's small seal script.
Liu Bo Wen of the Ming Dynasty was knowledgeable in astronomy but not in geography, and his writings were sharp, such as "The Sale of Oranges."
Advancement in officialdom is not easy.
Su Qin studied day and night with "suspending his head from the beam and piercing his thigh with a needle," and finally wore the seals of the six states. In "Rise Three Steps," the foolish Zhang Haogu rises step by step and is eventually beheaded, vividly showing that luck, money, and flattery are useless without real talent. In the end, those without talent may be demoted or dismissed, while those with talent may lose their heads.
Practical Theory
Leadership Strategy Classics
Adhere to the truth and see through the clouds.
Do not be a fence-sitter or a fool in a well. Do not believe the lies of the wicked.
There is only one truth. Let the wind and waves blow, let the dark clouds press the city. When the clouds and mist clear, the sunny sky is still beautiful.
It is difficult to adhere to the truth in practice, but once you pass the test, you are a strong fighter. If you fall, it will be hard to stand up again, because you are a leader.
Judge the situation and plan wisely.
Scientific decision-making requires good forecasting skills. "Plan before war" and know both oneself and the enemy to win every battle.
Shape the image according to the following principles: high standards, holism, competitiveness, image-building, long-termism, realism, flexibility, transparency, admiration for beauty, and diversity.
Apply leadership art creatively.
If said positively, it is art; if said negatively, it is、、、、、、. We advocate a righteous art that helps leaders carry out their work.
Make plans and set strategies carefully.
The specific implementation of decisions relies on rules, and the art of planning lies in "seeing the enemy as inferior in strategy but superior in tactics."
Streamline the organization and eliminate redundancies.
Parkinson's Law is evident in China's bureaucratic institutions. Streamlining and institutional reform are inevitable requirements for establishing efficient government organizations, but not excuses to eliminate rivals.
Be cunning and make good use of authority.
Leaders must establish their authority to wield power freely. Knowing when to use "legal power," "coercive power," or "influential power" is about seizing the right moment and balance. Otherwise, it may backfire.
Delegate power according to people and circumstances.
Leaders must be skilled in "delegating" and "borrowing" power. Otherwise, work may not go well, and their authority will be compromised.
Shape the image and maintain good public relations.
This is not public relations; the so-called "fourth element of productivity in public relations" is a fallacy that will lead leaders astray.
Practice Chapter
Stay calm amid change and stabilize the army.
Leaders must have extraordinary composure to endure storms and clarify right and wrong. Identify the trend, observe the situation, and remain calm on the battlefield to stabilize the army and reassure superiors. The saying is, "Even if Mount Tai collapses before you, your expression should not change."
Respect the talented and learn from them.
Even the wisest have shortcomings. Respect the talented and show humility. When facing problems, do not act impulsively but consult experts and scholars to gather wisdom. Three mediocre cobblers are better than one Zhuge Liang.
Appoint the capable and utilize talent.
Distrust those you doubt but trust those you have confidence in. Be sincere to people, move them with emotion, and do not bend to personal interests. Maintain equal relationships, first see their strengths, tolerate their weaknesses, encourage innovation, let everyone use their talents, differentiate in talent management, reward and punish clearly in talent motivation, and train for the future.
Avoid gambling, drugs, and corruption.
In major cases, leaders are often involved in gambling, drugs, and corruption. The dark hands of evil have pulled many cadres down. Do not be the next one!
Do not take credit for others' achievements and make fewer mistakes.
Do not make decisions impulsively or abandon them carelessly. Work steadily, do more, and make fewer mistakes.
Be accurate, vivid, humorous, and clever.
Whether praising or criticizing subordinates, timing is crucial. A good report is a great opportunity to showcase your image. Humor and cleverness are always welcome.
Coordinate relationships and resolve conflicts.
This tests a leader's ability to handle subordinates. When relationships are smooth and conflicts are resolved, your prestige will rise.
Be magnanimous and forgive past mistakes.
A minister's belly can hold boats. Allow people to make mistakes, and they are good comrades once they correct them. This is also dialectical materialism. Treat those who have made mistakes correctly. Those who stand up at critical moments are often those who have made mistakes.
Family connections are not allowed.
If leaders engage in nepotism, half of their units will be ruined. Once family connections are brought in, the unit will lack talented people. When talented people are replaced by relatives, the unit will become inefficient and relationships will become complicated, with the wise thinking of leaving.
Content with poverty and enjoy wealth.
After gaining recognition and power, do not engage in official-business collusion or make money off your position. Historically, officials involved in business often brought disaster: Jiang, Song, Kong, Chen, Hu Xueyuan, and Zuo Zongtang. With reforms deepening, high salaries to support honesty are inevitable, and anti-corruption measures will become stricter. As a leader, you must reflect deeply!
You cannot have both the fish and the bear's paw.
If you want to keep your position, drive a car, and take money while also caring for your children, you will only end up shot. Be honest and clean, and the people will love you. Guard your temporary poverty and leave a permanent good reputation.
Act with sincerity and seek no private gain.
Do not reach out; if you do, you will be caught. Heaven's net is vast and impenetrable. The "59-year-old phenomenon" has ruined so many leaders! Be self-disciplined at all times and act with sincerity.
Seize the time and prioritize efficiency.
Time is efficiency. If you are busy all day, make a schedule, and time will become valuable.
Take care of your health and do your work well.
Work must improve, but health cannot decline. Strive for balance between work and rest, exercise regularly, and enhance your physique to do well.
A leader's word is hard to retract.
A leader should speak less, make promises sparingly, act decisively, and avoid words without action. Otherwise, your prestige will plummet, and your power will be diminished.
Avoid falling for female subordinates.
Leaders must handle female subordinates carefully. If you stumble, you may fall into emotional, making work difficult, harming your reputation, and staining your morals. Never take advantage of those nearby! This is a dangerous area, please avoid it.
