How to treat dead sperm?

Patient's question:

I got divorced from my husband and didn't know why I couldn't get pregnant. I went to the hospital for a thorough check-up, and it was found that both my eggs and the sperm were not viable. How is dead sperm treated?

Doctor's answer:

Epididymitis refers to a condition where, during a semen analysis, the majority of sperm are dead. Under normal circumstances, after semen is expelled from the body, the percentage of viable sperm that can survive for 1 hour should be around 47%. If the percentage of dead sperm is below 40%, it will interfere with fertilization, which is known as epididymitis.
The causes of epididymitis are numerous, with the most common being cold exposure. It is generally recommended that if a cold exposure test is conducted, the sperm mortality rate will be higher if the exposure duration is between 4 to 7 days.
Excessive heat in the environment where sperm are located can also increase sperm mortality. Wearing tight pants like jeans, frequently visiting saunas, or taking hot baths can all contribute to higher sperm mortality.
