Patient's question:
What should I do if I have varicocele? Hello doctor, I am currently 22 years old and have developed varicocele. I am very troubled and don't know what to do. What should I do if I have varicocele?Doctor's answer:
Varicocele is classified into three degrees. In mild cases, dilated veins are not palpable locally, and only discomfort is felt. In moderate cases, dilated veins can be felt when standing, but they are not visible externally. In severe cases, dilated veins in the scrotum appear as worm-like or clustered. The treatment of varicocele varies by degree. Mild cases can be managed conservatively, including rest, wearing tight-fitting underwear, reducing strenuous exercise, and appropriately using blood-activating medications. However, moderate to severe cases, or those accompanied by infertility or abnormal semen, require surgical intervention.
Varicocele obstructs blood, leading to impaired blood circulation in the testes, which disrupts the normal function of sperm production and excretion.
