Publish Date: 2006-09-01
Features: The Outline of Chinese History was decided upon by the 1961 High School Liberal Arts Textbook Selection Plan Conference and commissioned to be organized and written by Professor Jian Bozan as a textbook for Chinese general history in higher education institutions. During the writing and discussion process, Professor Jian Bozan frequently engaged in repeated discussions with the writing team members on issues such as format, theoretical application, and historical source evaluation. He repeatedly emphasized the need to adhere to a historical perspective, explain issues with historical facts, and base arguments on solid scientific research. In the final drafting, he meticulously polished every word. These efforts fully reflect his dedication as the chief editor and his serious attitude toward historical science. In 1982, at the request of readers, the book was divided into two volumes. It was revised and reissued in 1994. In 2006, a second revision was conducted and published by Peking University Press. These two revisions were carried out while preserving the original characteristics, incorporating new research findings, and making appropriate adjustments and additions to some content, aiming to ensure the book aligns with current research standards and teaching needs.
