What causes impotence?

Patient's question:

Doctor, I am in the following situation. For example, I was normal yesterday, but suddenly had premature ejaculation today again. Previously, I had a sexual intercourse habit, but it's not very frequent. Could this situation be related to the pituitary? What are the causes of impotence?

Doctor's answer:

Erectile dysfunction (ED) can be caused by many factors, such as: psychological factors; any disease that may lead to increased blood flow to the penile corpus cavernosum; surgery or trauma that results in damage to the penile blood vessels and nerves, leading to ED; endocrine disorders, chronic diseases, and long-term use of certain medications; recurrent and persistent prostatitis and benign prostatic hyperplasia; or it may be caused by a specific condition called penile panniculitis, which is characterized by nodular or cord-like lesions on the penis.
