Features: Such severe dependency is truly frightening. First, it leads to a lack of initiative and independence in children, resulting in low efficiency and difficulty adapting to the complex social life of the future. Second, parents constantly supervising children while doing homework can create a sense of coercion and suppression. Teachers assign a certain amount of homework not only to help children reinforce new knowledge but also to cultivate their self-discipline and proactivity, as well as to train them to think independently and solve problems on their own. Therefore, homework should be something children do on their own.
If parents always sit beside their children, watching them do homework, it can create a psychological misconception in children: homework is done for parents, and studying is also for parents. As a result, some children may enter a passive state while doing homework, failing to exercise their subjective initiative, and losing self-discipline and proactivity in the learning process.
A child's performance on homework often reflects the problems and shortcomings in their learning. Teachers can identify and address these gaps to guide children in mastering knowledge more deeply. However, if parents excessively assist with homework content or even provide answers, it can mask the truth of the child's learning, making it difficult for teachers to accurately assess their weaknesses. The parts the child did not truly understand will be overlooked.
Many parents may have encountered the following odd situation: a child makes mistakes on exam questions that they can solve at home while doing homework. Consequently, parents blame the child for not paying attention during the exam. Unaware of the fact that exam conditions differ, they fail to realize that children often complete homework with parental guidance and assistance, not reflecting their true abilities. In reality, it is the parents themselves who blind themselves to the truth.
Since supervising children while doing homework has the aforementioned harms, wise parents will let go and allow children to take charge of their own homework independently and freely.
These things let the child make their own decisions
