Features: The third edition of this book is still revised by Professor Luo Chengqin of the Department of Mathematics, Tongji University. In this revision, Chapter 1 adds second-order and third-order determinants; Chapter 2 adds some practical background content about matrices and their operations; the theoretical systems of Chapters 3 and 4 have been completely replaced. The new Chapter 3 first introduces elementary row operations of matrices and the concept of rank, then solves the problem of solving systems of linear equations. The new Chapter 4 discusses the linear dependence of vector sets. Due to the theory of matrices and linear equations, this discussion is greatly simplified. Chapters 5 and 6 also strengthen the presentation and proof of theorems to varying degrees, and increase or modify exercises, making this textbook closer to basic requirements and more suitable for teaching. The content of this book includes six chapters: determinants, matrices and their operations, elementary row operations of matrices and systems of linear equations, the linear dependence of vector sets, similar matrices and quadratic forms, linear spaces and linear transformations, etc. At the end of the book, there are answers to the exercises. This book can be used by all majors in higher industrial colleges and is also suitable for scientists and engineers to read.
