What is male infertility?

Patient's question:

Got married for several years, but we've never had children. My wife and I have also never breastfed. On weekends, we decided to go to the hospital for a thorough check-up for infertility. The doctor said it's male infertility, so what should be paid attention to?

Doctor's answer:

Generally, cohabitation for more than 2 years after marriage without any contraceptive measures while the woman remains pregnant is referred to as infertility. The incidence rate is around 10%. Among which, factors solely related to the woman account for about 60%, while factors solely related to the man account for about 40%. The remaining 10% involve both male and female factors. Male infertility can be classified into absolute infertility and relative infertility based on clinical manifestations. Infertility can be cured, but the treatment period is usually long, and relapse is common after treatment. Therefore, medication must be used according to symptoms during treatment. Additionally, it is recommended to maintain a healthy lifestyle and diet during the treatment period.
