The second part of the book consists of 8 comprehensive exercises, designed to provide integrated training for the learned skills. The book comes with audio tapes, where the listening materials are read by native English speakers from the UK and the US, allowing students to encounter authentic English during practice. The main features of this book are as follows:
1. Focuses on training listening skills. This book changes the previous overly emphasized receptive learning, rote memorization, and passive training methods, advocating for students to use the key of autonomous learning to open the door to success. The book prioritizes listening skills, providing students with experiential learning contexts; supplements skill training, opening channels for practical learning; and uses comprehensive exercises to help students improve their English listening skills by mastering and applying listening patterns.
2. Has a progressive structure. Considering the actual development of English proficiency among junior high school students from Grade 7 to Grade 9, the book has been designed holistically, offering a large number of skill explanations and exercises ranging from macro to micro and from easy to difficult, suitable for students of different types of schools and levels.
3. Rich listening material content. For each skill, the corresponding passages include more than 4 authentic English dialogues or short texts, with fresh and original material. The recording materials have appropriate speeds, strong practicality, and cover various English accents. The simulated training design highlights practicality while also training students in the comprehensive application of multiple skills and the mastery of common language expressions for certain topics. This book was written by experienced curriculum developers and frontline English teachers, with most of the content having been tested and proven effective among students of different levels in the same grade. During the writing process, to maintain the authenticity of the listening materials, we used some original audio materials from foreign sources.
