Features: "Information Olympiad Tutorial" (Language Edition) is a training textbook for middle school students participating in IOI and NOI, NOIt, while "Advanced Edition" can also serve as a training material for college students participating in the International ACM competition. It can also be used as a reference book for students and researchers studying algorithm design. "Information Olympiad Tutorial" (Language Edition): The National Youth Information Olympiad (NOI) and the National Information Olympiad (NOIP) are major competitions for students across the country, approved and organized by the Ministry of Education and the China Association for Science and Technology. They are held annually in all provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions in China and are directly linked to the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI). This competition has become one of the most representative forms of extracurricular computer activities in China, attracting tens of thousands of young people every year. NOI and NOIP have a hierarchical difficulty level in terms of questions. NOI focuses on improvement and has a smaller number of participants, while NOIt emphasizes popularization and attracts a larger number of participants each year, with a broader reach. Due to the extensive content of the NOI competition and the current IT textbooks not fully aligning with the competition requirements, Hunan Normal University Press and the Organization Committee of the Hunan Provincial Youth Information Olympiad have organized experts, professors, doctors, and outstanding coaches from the Hunan Provincial Information Olympiad to write this "Information Olympiad Tutorial." This book is a summary of the author's decade-long experience in training students for international and domestic information Olympiads. The entire tutorial is divided into three volumes. The "Language Edition" primarily introduces one of the competition's designated programming languages—Turbo Pascal 7.0—its environment, statements, and program structures. The "Basic Edition" is aimed at beginners in the competition, covering the development of international and domestic youth information Olympiads, competition rules and regulations, as well as the guiding principles, question-setting principles, and educational philosophy of the Olympiad. It elaborates on computer fundamentals, algorithm overviews, simple data structures, and basic algorithm models to prepare students for participating in NOIP. The "Advanced Edition" is designed for students seeking to improve their competition level, providing detailed explanations of basic algorithm design strategies, search methods, search optimization, graph theory algorithms, and the application of dynamic programming. To meet the needs of new developments in information Olympiads, it also briefly introduces the Linux operating system, GCC, and the Free Pascal programming environment. The entire tutorial follows the requirements of NOIP, NOI, and IOI, with algorithms as the main thread and problem-solving analysis as the carrier. It is both accessible and in-depth, offering explanations of the basic ideas behind various algorithms, analysis of problem-solving approaches, comparisons between different algorithms, specific programming strategies, and reference programs. The programs are written in the popular Turbo Pascal 7.0 language used in information Olympiads, emphasizing structured and readable code. It also provides simulated competition questions to help readers assess students or conduct self-assessments.
