Features: Famous people's letters not only possess extensive humanistic value and sociological value in content but also feature meticulously crafted writing styles and materials. Especially during the Qing Dynasty and the Republican era, the note paper used by famous individuals included not only watermarked floral paper but also self-made letters by the writers themselves. Such letters themselves are exquisite works of art. Some envelopes also bear patterns of plum blossoms, orchids, bamboo, and chrysanthemums, or other traditional designs. Later, printed patterned postcards also appeared, with writing transitioning from brush pens to steel pens. Whether written with a brush or a hard pen, the style remains pure, flowing, and effortlessly elegant. Famous people's letters "gather all the favor in the world," each piece embodying profound cultural connotations and artistic appreciation. In recent years, they have become highly sought after by the collecting community.
This book aims to promote Chinese letter culture, featuring 100 letters from 100 famous individuals, each selected with 1 to 5 pieces. Interesting anecdotes, historical facts, and lesser-known stories behind each letter are out, revealing the life paths, personal integrity, and daily details of these figures, allowing the world to understand their joys, sorrows, and the social changes of their time. For some letters, the focus is on artistic analysis. Most of these 100 individuals were active in modern times, with a few being ancient masters, including leaders, political figures, renowned officials, famous scientists, educators, writers, calligraphers, and painters. The letters included in the book are as far as possible published with original ink traces, along with portraits of some famous individuals, photographs of their lives and work, and other relevant images.
