Features: This year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Long March of the Red Army. Seventy years later, as 1.3 billion Chinese people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, embark on a new great Long March to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, it holds great significance for the People's Liberation Army Publishing House to republish Comrade Huang Zhen's "Long March Art Album." Among the Red Army soldiers who participated in the strategic transfer decades ago, some still took up their pens to express their emotions and paint, but unfortunately, due to the circumstances and conditions at the time, none of their works were preserved. Currently, only the 24 paintings by Comrade Huang Zhen remain. If later generations can gain a more authentic and vivid understanding of the Long March and its great spirit through these images, it is thanks to those who ensured these paintings were preserved. This republishing of the "Long March Art Album" includes a special addition of Comrade Huang Zhen's 1986 article "Reminiscences of the 'Long March Art Album' and Other Essays," which recounts Comrade Huang Zhen's experiences painting during the arduous Long March, providing readers with a deeper understanding of the album. Additionally, minor revisions have been made to certain passages in Comrade Huang Zhen's post-liberation recollections accompanying each painting. The brief biography of Comrade Huang Zhen has also been supplemented. These more than 20 paintings serve as fragments of the great Long March, authentic revolutionary historical materials, and precious works of art. Comrade Huang Zhen, along with countless soldiers, traveled thousands of miles, documenting these moving scenes of history amidst the battles with his brush. These paintings are deeply moving. Comrade Huang Zhen particularly highlighted the revolutionary optimism of the Red Army soldiers; he also recorded the landscapes of ethnic minority regions the Red Army passed through and the hardships of the "poor people" (known as "ganyiren"). Such works remain rare even today. May those who hold brushes today create more works to powerfully portray the new life of our great socialist era!
